As part of the ReMuNet research project, our team took part in the expert workshop “Segments of urban freight transport in the logistics network” in Berlin. The workshop brought together representatives from industry, politics, and science in the DACH region to discuss key challenges and design options in urban freight transport.
The focus was on presenting the concept of “shared logistics” as a structuring approach for resilient, multimodal freight transport systems. The idea behind this is to make existing logistics networks more efficient and robust through the cooperative use of infrastructure, standardized interfaces, and data-based coordination. In particular, the segmentation of urban freight transport, the distribution of roles within the network, and governance and data aspects were discussed.
The ReMuNet project was presented as a methodological and conceptual basis, particularly with regard to network modeling, data integration, and resilience assessment. The interdisciplinary discussions also served as a blueprint for political decision-making processes in the context of sustainable urban logistics strategies.
The results of the workshop will be compiled and published in a white paper to provide impetus for research, practice, and regulation in the field of multimodal freight transport systems.
